Day 13 : Vienna zoo

Today was all about the zoo.  Lazy was the start of the day which was good based on all the walking we ended up doing.  We also stopped at the Palm house which is a tropical green house and a desert exhibit.

But let's just chat about the zoo.  I'd compare the zoo to San Diego.  Lots to see and lots of walking.

Couple things seemed different about this zoo.  One all the enclosures had indoor and outdoor areas, guess based on weather the animals hang out in the appropriate area.  For example the pinguines were outside which is say in most places isn't normal.

Other things I felt were unique. I felt closer to the animals than in some parks.  Seems like the barriers were not as substantial like they don't tolerate stupid people.

These fish were fun to was here was a pressure stream that they would ride against and then go flying back.  While other fish came in from the side and flew by like speed demons.  They seem to be enjoying them selves.

This was a row of larva and butterfly's were all over in random spots.

Panda bear munching away.  He was eating when we got there and when we stopped by 4 hours later he was still eating.

These guys were putting in a show for someone.  The big guy you see there was j. The water the whole time then he decides to come out and sit on a scale.  You can just barely see a red light j. The corner but imagin this big guy gettingon the scale and looking up at it like he's proud of his poundage.

Next the penguins that seemed to be enjoying the weather.

Elephants in the hunt for carrots.

Attic wolves that seemed to be enjoying their day.

Always have to have a few goats.

These little pigs wee outside an old chalet style place on the zoo grounds.

polar bear working on his fish-sticle.

These water hogs were funny to watch.  The keeper had just drained this pool and hosed it clean down the drain.  He then put the hose in it and started on another one.  The moment he moved on these guys headed in and started rolling in the water almost like a happy bath day.

These guys had their winter coats.

Wouldn't want to run j to this big feller.  I recall a movie where a pelican thought he was a mob boss.  This guy had that sort of additive in this walk and looks.

In the center of the main area is a great cafe we had a late lunch at.

Saw the koala on the way out.

Finally after the zoo went and checked into our hotel.  This place has the most awsome view and we have a fancy living room with oil paintings and fabric on the walls.
