Italy 2011 - Day 3
We walked quite a while not really knowing where we were going but we ended up on another side of the island where there is a natural arch with the turquoise looking water below it. Very cool. After that we went back and found a small restaurant off the beaten path and had a very quiet lunch.
So after catching the hydro jet back to Sorrento we walked around a bit checking out the town. It was actually great unlike Naples the feeling was calm, clean and so friendly. I really like that town. We ate dinner at the hotel because we were pooped. I really need to get a pedometer I swear we walked 5 miles at least. Tomorrow is a lot of driving, we are heading down the Amalfi coast then gonna stop to checkout the volcano Mt Vesuvius. Time permitting we may hit another ruin called Herculeum. Then off to Rome. Should be a busy but fun day.

Italy 2011 - Day 2
Started the morning by being on a weird schedule so checked email at 4am but then was able to go back to sleep. So the one thing about italy is most places include breakfast so we had breakfast, fresh squeezed orange juice, frittata with fresh roles and cheese. Yummy breakfast. After breakfast we walked over to Pompeii which was across the street from our hotel. So for me I was thinking Pompeii, frozen people frozen life, just a small area. Boy was I wrong... this is a huge town with tones of streets. The streets are made up of large stones kinda like cobble but gigantic lava stones. The stones have ruts for where the carriages went. There were large stepping stones to cross each street, guess the streets were like sewage so people didn't walk in them. Then you have in the close background Mt Vesuvius, and I thought people living on the california fault were insane pompeii has a new giant city still right at the base of this not so dormant volcano.
The auditorium is suppose to be the oldest of its kinda and that was cool where the gladiators versus animals occurred. This is a G rated blog so I wont go into the fancy art work. Lets just say they really like the goddess of love, Venus. Hmm lets see was there anything else interesting... trees over here are kinda odd they trim em up to the top so they are kind canopy like.
So after pompeii we headed to Sorrento on the coast opposite Napoli on the bay. Anyway if you have ever driven thru Malibu or any of those town on Highway 1 you know what the Sorrento coast highway is like. It was insanely busy bumper to bumper the whole way. Our hotel however is up on the bluff, wonderful view at night cant wait to see it in the morning. We ate dinner overlooking the bay Joe had fish and me Cannelloni. Gotta try all these italian dishes. For desert had tiermasu (sp?)... don't like coffee so although good i wont get it again.
Tomorrow the bus down to Sorrento then the hydrofoil off to Capri Island.

Italy 2011 - Day 1
Rented a Car in Rome and headed south, didnt realize it take us 2 hours to drive down to naples. Traffic wasnt bad but definitly not is AZ anymore. Drivers have no patience and if your nose is out front you better move it. Driving in Naples was insane, Joe did a great job we survived.
From naples we got back to our car and drove to Pompeii for the night. Each of the emergency pull outs on the mini express way we took was a mini garbage dump. Very strange. Pompeii was happening last night, the hotel is quaint but convenient to the ruins. Its 4am and my clocks a bit messed up. Breakfast starts at 7.30.

Week 1 - orlando
Okay after the shelling we hit orlando. First day we did animal kingdom. Really liked the safari. One of these day will have to go to africa for a real one. Not much more stood out about that park. The next day we hit hollywood studios. The rock and roll coast was awsome. The shows weren't bad. It rained cats and dogs all day. Oh I forgot to mention the crazy tornado watch the day before. Dark clouds rolled in, the wind was going insane then poring rain. All in a matted of 15 minutes then it was gone. Yesterday was a gorgeous day we did the magic kingdom. Disipointed in space mountain and space rangers spin. The monsters laugh was good. Liked that. Today we are off to epcot.
Week 1
Downloaded a new app for blogging let's see how well it works. First day out we went down to the most sothern point of the us flamingo. On our way we saw alot of cool birds and alligators. We did a star like hike and saw alot of Brady red eyes with the flash lights. They also said it was mating season so the were a little edgey with each other.
Next day we saw more alligators as we took the tamani trail across lower florida. We went thru the big cypress preserve. The enviormental things they are doing to restore the everglades water ways is neat. After we reached the otherwise of florida we hit the beach for some shelling. Suppose to be the best shelling in glorieS. Must say santbel island was very shelly and my feet are still raw from walking on them.

Vitoria, Spain
Granon, La Rioja, Spain
Montserrat
Next day we went to MontSerrat. A monistary in the mountains outside barcelona. There is one main one and hikes to a number of smaller ones. We hiked to one and will have to go back a diffrent year to do others. The way to the top was a train first then we took a cable car practicly strait up it seemed. You could see for miles all the way around. After here we took the long drive into Granon. It was about 5 hours over toll roads. I couldnt image what it would be over a regular road. Speedlimit around here is around 120km/hr not sure what that eqates to in the US.
Barcelona to Cordona

Day 5 & 6 - Mediteranian Coast
Day 4 - London
Very impressive ceilings and then we found out you could go up to the top. so we went up it was 250 steps or so. but then there was even a more up section by the end of it we went up 500+ steps. The stairs at the bottom where wide with two way traffic. The next section was old castle style, whindy deep stone steps. Then the last set were metal spiral staircases all the way up. The views made it worth the excercise.

England Day 3
Busy day just relaxin. Gotta love it. In the morning we went and ate.. oh i mean picked fresh strawberries and rasberries. The stawberries were yum-me. Its amazing what type of road they consider a wide road. Glad im not driving, too many cars, wrong side of the road and roads smaller than our dirt roads with card parked everywhere so they are even skinnier.
After getting a lot of fruit we went back for a family get togeather. Quite a large group there were 3 generations of cousins. Quinn played cars with his gen cousin, then they also played some lawn janga. They then played an interesting bowling sticks lawn game. Should try to find one for phoenix it was quite fun. There were 12 sticks counting from 1 to 12 and then a bigger stick you would throw at them. if you knock one down you get the value of the stick if you knock more you get the number you knocked down. you have to get exactly 25 to win. and if you get none three times in a row your suppose to be out but they just start your points back at zero. Tommorrow off to London bright and early. Quinn will get to ride the tube (their underground) should be interesting.
Day 1 to 2 - Kent, England
The castle it self is very good for kids. The middle is all open but it still has some towers intact. You walk up very tight windy stair cases to the tippy top tower and get a great view.
On the way up you see some old fireplaces and the original pit toilets. but in this case instead of a hole in the ground it dumps out into the moat. yuck.
The moat looked very moat like, green and slimy with gigantic fish. they were so big they looked like they could eat you hand or foot. After our fill of the castle we were able to watch a demonstration of a caterpolt. They say they use to use hot white sand in the old days but inorder not to hurt anyone they use water bombs and cantelopes today. They fired it off into the moat. something you wouldnt see here. No lines for safty just a warning that they have been known to fire backwards so he told the people behind they may want to move. But it was up to them.
