Anyway, Hedelburg was busy, our first adventure was pulling up to a parking garage and the button not doing anything a lady behind us came up and rattled something off in german so we decided to back out and watch her. So she pulls up and just sits there, then when a car pulls out she can go in. Ah so the trick is the place is at capacity you have to wait. So back in line we go waiting our turn.
Next stop the castle ruins. Nice looking castle but mostly destroyed. Took a tour and found out it wasn't bombed in WW2 it was actually destroyed in what they call the 30 year war with France. The French guide joked that the French make good ruins, because most of the outside walls were still in good shape. The castle was up on the hill so the view of the town nestled between the mountain and the river Necktar was very nice.
After the castle was off to the Christmas market. It was a lot busier than earlier and little did we know it would only get worse. There were 4 squares that had markets in them with a shooting star light display all the way up and down the street connecting them. The markets are about half food and drink and half little shops.
I had a hot chocolate which came in its own memorable cup, it was some good chocolate. They also served mulled wine which j wasn't sure what that was so we'll try it tomorrow, guess it's warm wine. The other main drink on the menu was schnapps, food they had lots of brots. There was also a lot of different ways to have potatoes. We had fresh potato chips on a stick which was delicious!
