We set our alarms for 6am. Here is a photo of our humble adobe for the night. Believe it or not this was a great establishment! Love the little towns. Always have great conversations with the locals.
We made it out at about 6:50, just in time to see some of the sunrise. It rained last night but no rain today just clouds. This made for great walking conditions.
There was a lot of art on today's walk. This guy on his burro was waving to us on our way out of town.
Love the pictures of tractors. It just looks like fun! They should have a taxi service come by once a day and offer a short ride to desperate pilgrims. On a tractor or donkey may even be better.
Not as many grapes today but the poppies were definitely vibrant.
The few grapes we saw at the begining had more workers pruning the grape vines.
As we head into town we get to see more art. This water fountain is somewhat evil looking but Quinn said it looks like a duck.
I think I took this picture at the wrong angle. Or maybe the picture just doesn't do it justice. It's suppose to be a pilgrim.
This next one has water coming out of an old style wine bag.
This tree is growing right thru the middle of this equipment.
Our final bridge for today. Leaving Santo Domingo.
We ran into a field of these flowers on the way out of town. They are beautiful flowers but they must not grow them for flowers because they were in full bloom and not being picked. I asked my aunt and she thought maybe it was for medicine. I didn't notice a fragrance but one of the other yellow flowers smell great when you pass them.
Cross to mark a fight between the two towns, Grañón and Santo Domingo.
Looking off at the mountains. Go up there a little ways and you'll get to a ski resort. Last we saw the peaks they looked to still have some snow.
The approach to Grañón. We will stay here a few days to recover and then I will continue on. We will see if anyone will be joining me. Blisters have recovered but the feet just get this dull ache after about 15 km. Today we did about 21km.
We went to the pilgrims mass today there were not as many as I have seen in the past. We later also saw them at the baker, I guess that's where dinner is cooked. They were also singing different songs from each country for their dinners.
