Back to Grañón

So from Fromista we had to take a bus back to Burgos.  Bus was to leave at 7:30.  Since we didn't know how it worked we headed over around 7.  We saw the bus pull up as we arrived.  The bus driver got out, locked up and went to have a coffee in the bar.  So we ate a snack as well and then about 7:30 he came strolling out and we got on the bus.

Then on the ride, not sure if we were ahead of time or not.  But some guy was waiting for him and they had a chat for a few minutes out his window, in one of the small towns.

It's like an old school bus route, they pickup anywhere along the way.  Wave to everyone, almost seems they can make minor adjustments to help out their regulars.  It's a big charter style bus.  It does take up most of the road.  I bet they have to time it so they don't meet another bus on the same route.

We passed one town that I guess had fiestas yesterday.  Their tradition is that all the kids born that year are layed on the floor and a guy dressed in yellow and black jumps over them.  It is suppose to give them luck in their lives.

Next was a bus change, middle of the road two busses and the one guy I talked to said it varies if we change or they change.  We had to change so now we are on a short bus.

So we stopped in Burgos for an hour before catching the next bus.  We went and had some chocolate con un couresant.  They have fiestas so all the kids were headed to the park with grocery bags of food and large water containers with what looks like kalimocho(wine with coke).  Looks like a good day will be had.

One interesting site was two older gentlemen dressed like kings and pushing some giant drums you would see in a symphony.  Next thing you know they are getting on a local bus drums and all.

So one thing about bus stops is they just stop on the main road and then you have to walk the rest of the way.  We are lucky it's only 1 km to town, there was another town however that was 2km away.

Interesting to hear about the bus etiquette. And, wow, tympani on a bus? That's amazing! We had a scout in Troop 30 who used to be able to jump over all the guys in his patrol. Heck of an athlete, but when the adults saw that stunt there was a serious hoopla about safety. It would be great to hear more about the festival. :)
