Stage 11.5 : Two Days of rest

So today we wash everything and rest.  It's strange because your on this early to bed early to rise schedule that is not typical in Spain.  Usually your up until midnight and you don't move in the morning until at least 10.  We on the other hand were dead by 9pm, when it was still light out.  And were awake around 7am.

The place is very quiet in the morning but around noon the pilgrims have started to arrive.  I went to the panaderia for our daily loaf of bread.  Stopped at the local market to get a few things for lunch and then off to cooking lunch.  Today's menu will only consist of two courses, food and desert.  Not three like we have been eating.  For the main course we will have garbanzo beans with spanish chorizo, garlic and some potatos.  I love the smell the chorizo adds to the kitchen, yummy.  For desert there will be yogurt, fruit, or these wonderfully light chocolate cookies fresh from the bakery.

On our second day of rest I saw an English lady that I had walked a bit with into Logroño.  They were definitely taking their time.

Today also at mass the priest said that someone had stolen from the church.  They took money from the lights bin and some other donations.  They also took some stuff from the alter.  All of the pilgrims enjoy that the church is open, but I guess it comes at a cost.  Kinda sucks cause it's so neat to see.

Finally we were also helping in the garden.  Ortigas ( stinging nettles) is a weed that will make you really itch.  My uncle picked a bunch up.  Stuck it in water for two days and then sprayed all his plants with them. I guess the bugs don't like it either.  His garden has tomatoes, beans, onions, garlic, peppers, carrots and a few pumpkins.
